Vanggatfontein project

Keaton Mining (Pty) Ltd, a 74%-held subsidiary of Keaton Energy has been granted a 20 yr mining right over the 1 635-hectare in Delmas.

Sterkfontein project

The Sterkfontein Project prospecting rights are held by Keaton Mining a 74% - held subsidiary of Keaton Energy. Limited exploration work was done on the project during the reporting period following the declaration of a 34 million tonne Coal Resource in May 2008.

Klip Colliery

The Klip Colliery mining permit is held by Keaton Mining a 74% - held subsidiary of Keaton Energy. The mine is a small open-pit operation that began production in October 2008 and operations are expected to cease in the next 12 months.

Amalahle

In April 2008, Amalahle Exploration (Pty) Limited (Amalahle), a 74%-held subsidiary of Keaton Energy, was granted four separate prospecting rights by the DME.

Leeuwfontein

The first of the new projects is the Leeuwfontein Project which is a nine-hectare property about 35 kilometres to the south of Middelburg.

Braamspruit

The second of the new projects is the 609-hectare Braamspruit Project adjacent to Optimum Colliery about 20 kilometres to the south-east of Middelburg.

Mafla prospects

In July 2008, Mafla Coal (Pty) Limited (Mafla), a 74%-held subsidiary of Keaton Energy, was granted two contiguous prospecting rights over seven adjacent properties totaling 5 166 hectares in the Klip River coal field in KwaZulu-Natal.
