Klip Colliery

Klip Colliery has reached the end of its mining life and rehabilitation on the mine site has begun. Some surface operations are still being undertaken on site, although open-cast mining is now complete. All remaining coal has already been sold. Keaton Mining intends to make an application for a closure certificate prior to the end of the 2011 financial year.

The mine has been an operational success with significant lessons having been learned. These relate particularly to infrastructure costs, mine security and coal marketing.
