Keaton Energy appoints operations director

Keaton Energy has announced the appointment of Petrus (Peet) Casparus Christiaan Snyders as operations director with effect from 1 January 2010.

Mr Snyders (49) holds a Master of Commerce (business management) degree from Rand Afrikaans University (now the University of Johannesburg), a Bachelor of Engineering degree in mining from the University of Pretoria and a diploma in marketing management from the University of South Africa. He has mine manager's certificates for both metalliferous and coal mines.

He has 28 years' working experience in the South African mining industry.. Previously he held senior positions in Riversdale Holdings (Pty) Limited, Anglo Platinum, Kumba Coal, Iscor Mining, Anglo Coal and Sasol Coal. He began his mining career as a Gencor bursar.

Keaton Energy Chairman David Salter said, "We are extremely pleased to have Peet join us as operations director. He has a unique combination of mining and business expertise and experience, gained with major coal mining companies. This will be of enormous benefit to Keaton Energy as he leads the growth plan towards our initial target of producing 2 million tonnes per year of coal, starting with the multi-product, multi-phase Vanggatfontein Project at Delmas."
