The group has found the physical protection of its employees and assets to be a challenge in the current environment and security arrangements are constantly being reviewed. Regrettably, the Klip Colliery has been attacked by armed robbers on four occasions in its first eight months of operation.
Security personnel are required to be trained to the appropriate industry standard and are provided with electronic alarm systems and on-call back up. The security measures put in place have thus far successfully prevented significant losses. However, should the incidence of crime of the nature increase further, then the sustainability of the operations may be threatened and the group will continue to look for ways to mitigate this risk.
